FinTech company EMQ has announced an extended partnership with WeChat Pay HK to expand its remittance services to Indonesia.

The two companies are already working together to provide remittance services in the Philippines via EMQ’s API platform, simplifying the remittance process by allowing overseas workers in Hong Kong to send money via a smartphone. The extended deal will enable WeChat Pay HK to bring the service to Indonesia as well.

Filipinos and Indonesians who live and work away from home can now use WeChat Pay HK for a full range of pay-out options including instant cash pickup, bank deposits to any bank, or mobile wallet to support their families back home.

“Both Philippines and Indonesia are currently among the top ten largest recipients of remittances according to the World Bank, with millions of households relying on the financial support of the overseas workers,” said Max Liu, co-founder and CEO of EMQ.

EMQ’s network footprint currently covers Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia, Vietnam and the Philippines, with plans underway to expand across other key business markets first in Asia and then globally, covering North America, Europe and the Middle East.

Earlier this month, the company struck a partnership deal with mobile payments provider QFPay to enable real-time merchant settlement across Indonesia.
