3 Hong Kong as of Tuesday will offer customers a carrier billing option to pay for purchases in the App Store and for Apple Music and iTunes directly from their mobile phone account.

The service will be available to all 3 Hong Kong customers in Hong Kong for postpaid mobile plans. The launch of the service sees 3 Hong Kong take a new step in the development of its mobile payment and customer service.

To use the service, 3 Hong Kong customers with a new or existing Apple ID can select “Carrier Billing” as a payment method in their account settings for the App Store, Apple Music and iTunes from their iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Mac, or on iTunes from their PC.

The new payment option will be configured automatically and immediately allows for one-tap purchasing from their Apple devices, including Apple TV and Apple Watch.

3 HK is no stranger to carrier billing. It has offered a direct carrier billing option for Google Play apps since June 2013.

In January 2015, the operator struck a partnership with with Boku to enable direct billing for in-app purchases.
