Telegeography’s CommsUpdate reports that Chinese telecoms sector regulator the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has issued licences to China Telecom, China Unicom and newcomer China Broadcasting Network (CBN, also known as China Radio and Television), enabling the trio to jointly use the 3300MHz-3400MHz range for 5G indoor coverage nationwide.

The allocation represents the first time that the MIIT has licensed frequencies to multiple enterprises for common use and will promote the co-construction and sharing of telecommunication infrastructure, the MIIT noted in a statement.

The move will help the three operators reduce costs whilst also increasing efficiency, improving service quality and enhancing competitiveness, the MIIT added.
