Sri Lankan operator Dialog Axiata has partnered with local electrical and lighting products manufacturer Orange Electric to launch the first IoT Wi-Fi socket manufactured in Sri Lanka.

Operating exclusively on the Dialog Smartlife platform for smart home connectivity, the ‘Orange Electric Smart Socket’ is a wireless plug-and-play device that can be plugged into any existing wall power socket, allowing users to control electrical appliances in their home remotely via the Dialog Smartlife mobile app.

The app enables scheduling functions such as switching a particular device on and off and triggering on/off events from other connected sensors or devices. The technology allows customers to gain full control over home appliances and is accessible from any location.

Dialog’s Smartlife IoT Service Portfolio was launched in early 2017, through the introduction of a suite of digital lifestyle applications supporting IoT solutions such as connected home and connected cars.

The Orange Electric Smart Socket is priced at Rs. 4,990 and will be available at selected Dialog customer centers and Orange Electric outlets in ready-to-use kits that only require users to plug in the device to begin using it.
