EXFO takes over Astellia to increase performance analysis for operators

Network test, monitoring and analytics company EXFO announced it has acquired 97.44% of the share capital of Astellia, which specializes in performance analysis of mobile networks and subscriber experience.

“By joining our strengths and technologies, we are creating unique capabilities to help operators keep pace with a quickly changing industry and ever-increasing consumer expectations,” said Germain Lamonde, EXFO’s founder and Executive Chairman.

Jolla announces Sailfish 3, with more devices

Sami Pienimäki, CEO of Jolla said “Sailfish OS has evolved from being originally the OS for Jolla devices, and is now supporting different major regional mobile ecosystem projects, and a vast number of mobile devices.

This is the year of Sailfish 3, the next generation of the world’s only alternative mobile operating system. Sailfish 3 is a result of rigorous development work and the efforts made together with Jolla’s licensing partners and the Sailfish community.

The 5G Slicing Association is launched

The founding members, China Mobile, Deutsche Telekom, Digital Domain, Fraunhofer FOKUS, GE, Huawei, CEPRI of SGCC, Tencent, TIM and Volkswagen AG announced the inauguration of the “5G Slicing Association”. The association will address requirements from vertical industry and the potential application scenarios of 5G network slicing on the way to defining new business models.

Antje Williams, chair of Slicing Association and executive program manager of 5G at Deutsche Telekom, said it is “crucial for our success as a telecommunication operator to understand the needs of our industry customers and provide smart network solutions that are tailored to their business needs”. Amdocs signs multi-year agreement with Globe

Amdocs has signed a multi-year services contract with Globe Telecom for continuous enhancement of Globe’s operations. According to the agreement, Amdocs Intelligent Operations will assist Globe in managing third-party systems and cloud management solutions. This agreement is part of the AmdocsONE offering.

“As we continue our journey towards the digital future, automation will play a crucial role in setting new benchmarks for customer experience,” said Ernest Cu, president and CEO of Globe Telecom.

Telenor and Cisco team on IoT and smart cities

Telenor Group and Cisco announced they have signed a Joint Purpose Agreement (JPA) to collaborate on enhancing end customer experiences with data analysis, IoT, Smart City, and security solutions.

“Digitization of societies requires new ways of working and new partnerships. We’re excited about taking our collaboration with Cisco to the next level, setting up a joint lab environment to explore Smart City solutions with one of Norway’s largest municipalities”, says Ruza Sabanovic, Chief Technology Officer, Telenor Group.
