Huawei and Cambodian cellco Smart Axiata have announced the rollout of 4.5G mobile connectivity in the country.
Huawei said the 4.5G upgrade would enable mobile Internet speeds 10 times faster than Smart Axiata’s current 4G network, which would be particularly beneficial for streaming videos and entertainment content.
Huawei also said that 4.5G enables Smart Axiata to launch new services to households and verticals on its existing network, such as wireless home broadband, HD video and IoT services, among others.
“With increasing demand for personalized and diversified services, emerging markets represent tremendous new opportunities for the telecom operators,” said Dr. Margaret Hu, President of Huawei Global Wireless Network Marketing. “Huawei is committed to supporting operators seize new opportunities by driving sustainable development in emerging markets.”
