Key to connectivity – coordination, collaboration and combination

CommScope connectivity Alper Turken

The key to connectivity involves coordination, collaboration and combination. This is evident when you talk to some of the most passionate technologists at CommScope. I recently had such an opportunity interviewing to Dr. Alper Türken, Senior Vice President of Service Provider Sales in APAC.

Alper highlighted how service providers can provide what all consumers and businesses demand – lasting and flawless broadband connectivity regardless of the underlying technology and the significance of fiber connectivity for an effective 5G roll-out.

For Alper, CommScope is a company that pushes the boundaries of communications technology to create the world’s most advanced networks. In 2019, CommScope acquired ARRIS and RUCKUS. The combined companies provide greater technology, solutions and employee talent, with broader access to new and growing markets.

When it comes to networks, it would appear that there is virtually nowhere that CommScope does not play a part. From material design through to solving the most complex of architecture or bandwidth challenges, the company has expertise in copper, fiber, wired and wireless infrastructure underpinning the networks of today and making ready the networks of tomorrow by enabling 5G, private networks and Gigabit speeds everywhere.

As Alper points, wherever you are in some shape or form, you will be using CommScope technology to get connected. That’s a bold statement, but after quizzing him further, I now understand exactly what he means. I also learnt a lot about the challenges service providers are facing in providing that seamless connectivity we all want and a little more about Wi-Fi 6. I trust you will find this interview as interesting and informative as I did.

In addition, Alper’s responsibilities include driving CommScope business globally with Altice, a leading telecoms-media convergence player based in France and US.

Previously, he was responsible for growth in the EMEA and Asia region for ARRIS. With an outstanding track record in leading technology businesses, working with highly- specialized large teams and managing partner ecosystems distributed over wide geographies, he has spent nearly 20 years working across United States, Europe, Middle- East, Africa and APAC.

Alper has accumulated years of experience in Hardware/Software Design, Systems Engineering, Sales and go-to-market management; including working with a broad range of technologies including Mobility, Wi-Fi, IPTV, OTT, DOCSIS, FTTH, Broadcast, IoT and Services during his time in ARRIS, Motorola and Nortel.

Alper holds a PhD in Philosophy from Bogazici University in Istanbul and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from METU in Ankara, Turkey.
