PLDT says it has further expanded the reach of its FTTH facilities by deploying high-speed broadband services to the key residential areas of Cavite province, making it the first “Fibr-powered Smart Province” in the Philippines.

PLDT Home Fibr now covers all 23 cities and municipalities of Cavite, according to PLDT FVP and head of consumer business for market development Oscar A. Reyes, Jr, enabling residents and businesses to access up to 1 Gbps symmetrical internet speeds.

PLDT will also be able to sell them additional services to use that gigabit connection such as PLDT Home’s Roku Powered TVolution Box – which offers over 100 streaming channels including Cignal TV, Netflix, iflix, and YouTube – and PLDT Smart Home services such as home monitoring system Fam Cam, cyber security platform Fam Zone, and multi-functional kiddie gadget Smart Watch.

PLDT’s FTTH roll-out covers households within Cavite’s residential areas from Bacoor to General Trias, encompassing Citihomes (Bacoor), Sea Breeze Subdivision (Cavite City), Legian Subdivision (Imus), Avida Residences (Dasmariñas), Boston Heights (Kawit), Poblacion/Town Proper (Alfonso, Amadeo, Magallanes, Maragondon, Mendez, and Ternate), Ponderosa Leisure Farms (Silang), Alta Monte Subdivision (Tagaytay), Lancaster Estate (General Trias), and more.

The province-wide FTTH deployment in Cavite is the latest phase in PLDT’s fiber expansion program which already covers key urban hubs in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. At the end of June, PLDT’s fiber facilities have passed 3.3 million homes. PLDT expects to expand that to about 4 million homes passed by the end of 2017.

It is also deploying hybrid fiber technologies such as G.fast, which can boost data speeds up to 600-700 Mbps over copper lines.
