Quortus has announced the release of a flexible, configurable virtual cellular core network solution targeted specifically at MVNOs and MVNEs.

Based on the company’s ECX Core network software, Quortus says the new offering gives MVNOs and MVNEs access to solutions with the scale and feature set they need to implement innovative services, while integrating efficiently with third-party network infrastructure.

ECX Core supports embedded, server or cloud-based (NFV) implementations, leveraging industry partnerships such as Quortus’ recently announced co-operation with Expeto, which enables a platform-as-a-service (PaaS) operating model. Quortus offers a variety of commercial packages including connected user-based pricing, making it economically viable to support anything from a handful of users up to 1 million connections, which makes it suitable for emerging IoT architectures.  Options include neutral hosted RAN support, and high-availability / redundant operation.

The new offering from Quortus includes a full range of standards-based O&M features to integrate with a higher-level OSS. Advanced roaming features such as IMSI steering give the MVNO/MVNE maximum flexibility, and the opportunity to combine revenue generation with outstanding customer experience.

As a pratical example, Quortus offers Swiss communications provider Telecom26, who has deployed Quortus’ MVNO-oriented solutions that provide underlying network intelligence and enable an “anywhere-you-go” service that gives customers access to over 700 global networks via a single SIM.

“MVNOs are on a constant quest to differentiate,” said Paul Trubridge, Quortus’ head of product management. “They’re coming to us with a wide variety of requirements, and an equally wide variety of technical constraints from their infrastructure partners.  We’re offering total flexibility, with a solution that ranges from simple subscriber management via an HSS/HLR module, all the way to a complete set of management and gateway modules, including roaming and billing interfaces.  Our products are scalable, so you can ‘pay as you grow’; and we can build multi-standard GSM/3G/LTE solutions.”
