Singtel has launched a gigabit fixed broadband service designed specifically for online gaming via a tie-up with Razer.
The ‘1+1 Gbps Fibre Pro Gamer Bundle’ comes bundled exclusively with the newly launched Razer Sila gaming router and a subscription to the WTFast Gamer Private Network service, which enables gamers to automatically link to the fastest gaming servers.
The ‘1+1 Gbps’ bit is to do with the fact that Singtel is actually providing subscribers with two dedicated slabs of 1-Gbps bandwidth – one exclusively for gaming, and the other for regular Internet usage.

The gamer bundle is available to Singtel’s new and recontracting customers. Singtel adds that its customers will be the first in Asia to get the Razer Sila, a high-performance router designed and optimized for gaming that allows gamers to access multiple data channels to ensure a reliable and lag-free performance.
“Online gaming is extremely popular with our customers. This requires high connectivity performance and specialised devices to optimize the gaming experience,” said Yuen Kuan Moon, CEO for Consumer Singapore and group chief digital officer at Singtel.
The dedicated bundle for online gamers will be launched Friday at the opening day of Singtel’s inaugural PVP Esports Championship in Suntec City. The three-day event will see teams from Australia, India, Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand compete in the mobile game ‘Arena of Valor’ and the PC game ‘Dota 2’ for a total prize pool of $300,000.
Singtel says it has identified eSports as a growth area as it seeks to build digital businesses across its footprint in the Asia Pacific region.
