Singtel has launched a new smart home solution that promises customers a personalized smart lifestyle experience encompassing home automation and security.

The Singtel SmartHome service is offered in partnership with Hanman International and features a Smart Hub that can connect and communicate with more than 200 compatible smart devices such as motion sensors, contact sensors and smart cameras, via Z-Wave Plus technology.

This IMDA-certified smart home “brain” integrates the home automation process and centralizes control on a secure app. With this expandable, customizable aspect of Singtel SmartHome, customers can purchase additional smart devices for their smart home setup as their needs evolve.

Once Singtel SmartHome is installed, customers can securely monitor and control their smart devices in real-time, customize their home by setting rules to automate tasks and receive instant notifications about what is happening at home no matter where they are.

For example, homeowners can set air-conditioning and appliances to turn on automatically as soon as they get home. They can also be alerted when their young children return home from school or if there is unexpected activity in the house.

At launch, Singtel Fiber Broadband customers can choose from two starter kits: Starter Kit with Contact Sensor (Smart Hub with 16GB Micro SD card and contact sensor) at S$25/month on a 24-month contract, or Starter Kit with Smart Lock (Smart Hub with 16GB Micros SD card and Samsung Smart Lock SHP-DP727) at S$45/month for 24 months.

The starter kits come with free installation and free 24/7 after-sales support for two years. Non-Singtel fiber broadband customers can purchase the starter kits at a one-time-charge of S$650 and S$1,260 respectively.

Customers can also personalize their smart living experience with features that fit their needs by adding on other smart devices such as smart plug, motion sensor, contact sensor, remote control extender, Samsung Full HD WiFi SmartCam, Samsung Digital Door Lock SHS-DP728 or Samsung Smart door lock SHS-H505.

“Smart homes are the homes of the future as Singapore becomes a Smart Nation. Singtel SmartHome is part of our vision of helping busy Singaporeans live better by using technology to empower them to live more comfortably and safely,” said Wong Soon Nam, vice president of Consumer Products at Singtel.

Wong added that with more than 88% of households in Singapore wired with broadband and a smartphone penetration rate of 83%, setting up a smart home can be easily done.
