Singaporean incumbent telco Singtel joined the unlimited data race Friday with new package plans that offer unlimited local data, talk time and SMS/MMS.
Singtel Combo 3, 6 and 12 mobile plans will be upgraded with unlimited talk time and SMS, while customers who sign up for those plans can also get unlimited local data as an add-on for S$39.90 a month, as well as a free data roaming plan each month.
Singtel also said the unlimited Data X Infinity option can be shared with up to three family members via supplementary plan for S$10.70 a month per line.
Singtel’s unlimited package launch follows moves by rival cellcos M1 and StarHub to launch unlimited offers at the end of last month. Singtel says its launch “ups the ante” in part because its LTE-A network offers 500-Mbps connectivity everywhere (at least for customers with a Cat 11 smartphone), but also because it’s the only plan to offer full-on unlimited services for data, voice and SMS.
M1’s unlimited plans don’t include SMS. StarHub’s top-tier package does, but its unlimited data offer is only available on weekends.
