HKT Payment – which runs the Tap & Go mobile payment service – has announced a collaboration with Heycoins that will enable Tap & Go customers to convert coins into instant top-ups for their mobile wallets.
Heycoins is a Hong Kong start-up company that develops and provides a kiosk network to collect coins from customers and convert them into digital currency, online & offline gift vouchers and charitable donations.
Heycoins kiosks have been installed in designated shops for HKT’s mobile arm CSL, and later will be extended to an HKT flagship store. In addition to mobile wallet top-up, customers can convert coins into gift vouchers for CSL and HKT’s Smart Living, as well as charitable donations.
Tap & Go is promoting the kiosks via a special offer under which customers can get HK$20 stored value rebate when they top up HK$200 or more at the Heycoins kiosks.
HKT Payment head Monita Leung said the new top-up option would not only help customers get rid of unwanted physical coins, but also ease the daily operation of retailers who no longer need to deal with and bank in a lot of coins.
Eddie Rong, CEO and co-founder of Heycoins, said more kiosks will be available by the end of 2017.
