Telenor Myanmar has introduced a new data roaming promotion plan for both prepaid and post-paid customers that enables customers to ‘roam like home’ to eight countries.

Under the “Asia 8” plan, Telenor Myanmar customers travelling to Thailand, Malaysia, China, Singapore, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Indonesia and Taiwan can now stay connected on the internet for 8 kyat (a fraction of a penny in US currency) per megabyte – the same rate customers are charged for data usage at home.

Normally, says Telenor Myanmar, standard data rates in those countries typically start at a minimum of 500 kyat (37 cents) per megabyte.

There is no subscription or activation needed to use this plan, said Joslin Myrthong, chief marketing officer of Telenor Myanmar.

“The Thingyan Festival is coming closer, and these eight countries are among the most popular international destinations for Myanmar people travelling abroad for the holidays,” said Myrthong. With our new Asia 8 offer, our customers can check and update their Facebook and social media pages with memories from the journey without worrying about cost as the price is the same as in Myanmar.”

Telenor’s 4G data roaming service is currently available in China, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, UAE, Canada, Macau, Taiwan and Norway, and more countries will later be added to the list.
