The Weekly Wrap 11, Feb 24, 2017: India mobile shake-up; MWC moanings

Weekly Wrap 11

Weekly Wrap 11 features John Tanner and Tony Poulos discussing the news highlights from the week that was.

For the week ending February 24:

Telenor finally unloads its Indian operation, complete with subscribers, circles and spectrum to Bharti Airtel and you can hear the sighs of relief all the way from HQ in the far north of Europe. The merger/acquisition/unloading (whatever you like to call it) makes Airtel the second largest mobile operator in India with over 300 million subs.

Reliance Jio is still amassing new subs at an alarming rate but what will happen when ‘free’ services slow down end of March? This could get interesting.

Mobile World Congress (MWC to most) begins next week in Barcelona, but what can we expect or even look forward to apart from the massive crowds, inevitable public transport strikes, thousands of press releases, tapas, late dinners and pickpockets?

Is Wi-Fi becoming more popular? ARRIS thinks so!
