The Weekly Wrap 5, Dec 10, 2016: TM Forum Live! Asia highlights, Singtel fiber blackout

Weekly Wrap 5 features John Tanner and Tony Poulos discussing the news highlights from the week that was.

For the week ending December 10:

It was the week that the TM Forum Live! conference returned to Asia – specifically, in Singapore, where regional delegates got their first glimpse of the TMF’s new Digital Maturity Model, a business tool to help telecoms players – and in fact any enterprise – get to grips with the requirements and processes of successful digital business transformation, and know when they’re getting it right.

Other highlights from the event included deep-dive discussions about digital transformation, the importance of putting customers at the center of that transformation (an area that telcos still need to work on) and a reality check on the prospects of the IoT and low-power WANs.

It was also the week where TMF delegates were lucky to have internet connectivity, as Singtel’s fiber broadband service was knocked out for around 24 hours the weekend just before the show. The cause is still under investigation, but Singtel may be looking at very stiff fines from the IMDA.
