For the week ending December 17:
It was the week that we learned that Yahoo had been hacked yet again – this time with over 1 billion accounts compromised, prompting an FBI investigation as Verizon demanded a better terms for its planned purchase of Yahoo’s internet business.
It was also the week TPG Telecom became Singapore’s fourth mobile operator, forking out $105 million – over three times the reserve price – for spectrum.
Also this week, Sigfox operator Thinxtra announced plans for a new network in Hong Kong, and told us how they plan to do it and fend off challenges from rival low-power-WAN standards NB-IoT and LoRa.
And it was the week that China and India helped Bitcoin hit its highest value levels in three years.
